Garden Bistro at The Pleasance

Embracing the beauty of our surrounding area.

At The Garden Bistro we are embracing the beauty of our surrounding area. Saughton Park is one of Edinburgh’s hidden gems. Covering 34 acres the park encompasses the largest skate park in Scotland, playing fields, athletic tracks, children’s play parks amongst other public amenities.

The walled garden is full of beautiful hedges, flowers, trees, herbs, fruits and vegetables. From the Italian Garden to the Physic Garden the park is awash with natural beauty and is home to the only cast iron bandstand in Edinburgh which has recently been refurbished - an idyllic venue for small weddings.

In 2019 the park benefitted from £8 million of investment.

In 2019 Saughton Park underwent a massive transformation and has benefitted from around £8 million of investment. In addition to the financial investment, local community groups such as The Royal Caledonian Horticultural Society & The Friends of Saughton Park have been key in the regeneration of the area.

“The Caley, Royal Caledonian Horticultural Society, has been working in partnership with The City of Edinburgh Council to restore Saughton Park since 2011. It was always planned to have a café of some description onsite, but The Garden Bistro has exceeded all our hopes. The team are a joy to work with and we simply love to grow a few things for the chefs to use in the kitchens and working in partnership with such enthusiastic partners, whether on everyday issues or events such as apple days, is not a chore it is a pleasure. ”

Pam Whittle CBE, Hon. Vice President Royal Caledonian Horticultural Society (October 2020)

A service window facing into the courtyard where a ‘grab and go’ menu is available with a selection of hot and cold drinks along with snacks, breakfast rolls, fresh soups, handmade pies and much more which can be purchased to be enjoyed within the park.

The Bistro itself offers a more comprehensive menu with seasonality, and local produce at the heart of it's dishes.
