Celebrating Scottish Food & Drink Fortnight
7th September 2020
We're delighted to be part of this year's Scottish Food & Drink Fortnight - a celebration of Scotland's larder, the people that work within the industry and a moment to put a spotlight on our industry!
At The Garden Bistro we take pride in sourcing local, seasonal and sustainable produce. Based within the Walled Garden at Saughton Park we also benefit from an amazing array of herbs, salads and fruits grown on site - truly from nature to plate! From salads with baby gem salad picked straight from the gardens on our doorstep, to seared sea-bass with a nasturtium pesto made from leaves freshly picked that day - the quality of produce is second to none.
In addition to our company’s ethos of locally sourced, seasonal, sustainable, fresh produce we only use free range eggs and red tractor chicken to ensure the food is traceable, safe to eat and has been produced responsibly. Our suppliers include a local artisan baker and fruit & veg produce selected from local farms across central Scotland.
We work closely with Majestic Wine on our wine list and stock a range of drinks such as Genius Beer, Edinburgh Gin and Thistly Cross cider, to ensure Scottish products are available to customers
How can you get involved? We are encouraging our customers to get involved with Scotland's Food & Drink fortnight too. You can do this by:
- Shopping local during the Fortnight to support your local businesses
- Celebrate your local farmer or fishermen by visiting your local butcher or fishmonger
- Tell the world who your Local Legends are by talking about them on social media using #ScotFoodFort20
- Talk to our Bistro team about the produce in your dishes. Our chefs are always happy to pop to your table to answer any queries you may have too!
